“Throughout history there have always been a class of adventurous but unruly people, also known as the “black sheep” of society. These people have marked the past with notorious, beneficial or colourfully strange ways. The Black Sheep Collection is a limited edition selection of hand-crafted spirits by a humble, family-run distillery based in South Australia.”

“Each spirit has been given the name of a historical rascal that can be associated to its flavour, region, or reputation. The minimalist design elements, illustrated sheep wrap and quirky nature of the concept conjure interest and spark the imaginations of the “wickedly mischievous and badly behaved”.”

“Balholm is a family owned distillery and cider maker with their own orchard located deep inside the beautiful Sognefjord on the west coast of Norway. The steep mountains, famously depicted by artists during the national romantic period provides a shield from the north sea ideal for fruit growing. Even records from the viking age talk about the great fruit in this region.”

“The Eitungjerde family are the first to graft and grow english and french cider trees in the Norwegian climate. Cider is dry and a suitable alternative to beer and as the first Norwegian cider brand with no clear category language to fit into, it was important to transmit the micro brewery method and to borrow cues from the beer category. The blue colours are inspired by the atmospherical transformation of the colours in the fjords as seen in the national romantic paintings which transmit delicate and food friendly associations, while the pragmatic use of typography express a genuine sense of detail and craft inherent to the small scale production. The oval label format is also a nod to the beer category.”

“The front labels carry short texts about the fruit type, method and taste description together with the symbol of the fruit press surrounded by 5 apples representing the 5 generations. The small transparent bottles also have a family portrait from the 1960´ies printed in the glue of the front labels to clarify the personal commitment behind the product.”

“Hotel Mas La Ferreria is a small hotel in Vall de Bianya, La Garrotxa, located in a house built at the end of the 14th century. Its name, meaning The Forge, comes from the profession that had the first known proprietor of the house, Bernat Pagès, blacksmith.”

“From there are created the shapes of the logotype, the typography, made with hard forms, engraved, appeal to the blacksmith work. The composition also reminds the weather vane that crowned the country houses of the area, made also of iron.”

“The applications are austere and have an organic aspect, to respect the history and the surroundings of the house. The stationery is printed only in black and on a rough paper, with impurities, and the signaletics on crude iron, with a natural aspect. The design of the web and its “responsive” programming aim to get a good experience for the user, who can notice the qualities of the hotel in a very agile and visual way, as well as to book the chosen room comfortably from any mobile device. The hotel staff can update the web contents, both the main page and the other sections, and in any language.”

“Cocoa Colony is a chocolate brand that tells the story of two brothers who discovered the many benefits of cocoa beans when they found themselves stranded in Ecuador after their ship capsized during the Colonial Period. With its healing properties and delicious aroma, the precious cocoa beans became known as the “Amazonian Gold” when the brothers brought them back to their homeland.”

“We felt the need to retell the story in elaborate details through meticulous typography and material choices during the creation of the brand. Gold was embellished with great intent to emphasise the affection we have for the product. While we strived to be truthful to the Colonial era, authenticity was relaxed for certain touch points intentionally for practicality.”

“We converted this part of Japanese mythology in a project of branding, packaging, furniture design, object design, multimedia and interior design, where we combined the port feeling with Japanese spirituality and Nó theater, The Nó is unique by his slowness, his austere grace and its distinctive use of masks truly represents a specific feature of Japanese culture, which is to find beauty in subtlety and formality. “The Sotoleria is a typical northern cantina that offers us this ceremonially elixir. Its form of production remains entirely handmade within the styles of mezcal and, therefore is considered an organic drink with a doubled distilled process from the fermentation plant. Our development was focused within the interaction of the sun and the earth that were provided to their prodigious son.”
